Orchestra

CLASSICAL INSTRUMENTS

The World Peace Orchestra includes hundreds of young instrumentalists and singers around the world. The classical orchestra will consist of three groups:

String Instruments
String instruments make up two-thirds to three-fourths of the orchestra, including some first and second violins, violas, cellos and double basses.

Wind Instruments
We will have wind instruments, including both reed instruments – oboe, clarinet, English horn and bassoon – and flutes.

Brass Instruments
Brass instruments will include trumpets, French horns, trombones, cornets and tubas.

Percussion Instruments Percussion instruments, despite their small number, create a strong impact. They include such well-known instruments as timpani, cymbals and triangle; and tuned percussion instruments such as glockenspiel, xylophone and, of course, piano.

ETHNIC INSTRUMENTS

As the WPO will include young people from many cultures, countries and ethnic backgrounds, we will feature many local and ethnic instruments in our repertoire.

These ethnic instruments, selected from Russia, Canada, Japan, China, Greece and many other countries, will include: hindewhu, nose flute, umuduri, begena, kissar washint kwitra, zurna mandole, simsimiyya, balafon, junjung, kalindula, dohol, dombra, duduk, balaban, tur, saluang, sapeh, sasando, santur, setar, taiko, taishogoto and tsuzumi, daf, dayereh and dombra, dayereh, dili tuiduk, dutar, kaval and komuz.

These ethnic instruments and the young people who will play them will new and different colors and excitement to the World Peace Orchestra.
